During Barcelona Gallery Weekend 2026, AULIAK presented AULIAK Collector Exhibition, an independent solo presentation held outside the official circuit at Galería Cortina, in the heart of Barcelona.
Conceived as an intimate encounter between the work, the space and its audience, the exhibition brought together a curated selection of AULIAK’s black-and-white Fine Art photography in a gallery with more than 45 years of history.
Over three days, collectors, art professionals and invited guests encountered the work away from the conventions of a large-scale exhibition, in an environment designed for proximity, observation and conversation.
AN INTIMATE ENCOUNTER WITH THE WORK
AULIAK Collector Exhibition was conceived around a simple premise: to create the conditions in which each photograph could be experienced as a physical presence.
AULIAK’s photographic language is built through light, gesture, the body and the recurring concealment of identity. Every image is staged and constructed entirely in front of the camera, without subsequent digital manipulation.
Within the intimacy of Galería Cortina, the photographs acquired another dimension.
Scale, framing, distance and the architecture of the gallery became part of the experience, allowing individual works to establish a visual dialogue across the space.
Rather than documenting an existing reality, AULIAK constructs the image before the lens.
The result is a body of work suspended between presence and absence, exposure and concealment, physicality and silence.
THE EXHIBITION
The presentation unfolded as a carefully considered sequence rather than a conventional display of individual photographs.
Works were positioned to create rhythm and tension throughout the gallery, inviting visitors to move between images and discover the relationships that emerge when the photographs inhabit a shared physical space.
The exhibition also offered a rare opportunity to experience AULIAK’s work beyond the screen: its materiality, scale and relationship with architecture.
OPENING
The opening brought together invited guests from the worlds of art, culture and Barcelona’s creative community for a private encounter with AULIAK’s work.
Rather than functioning solely as an opening event, the evening extended the premise of the exhibition itself: proximity to the artwork and direct conversation around it.
AULIAK × GALERÍA CORTINA
The exhibition took place at Galería Cortina, an established Barcelona gallery with more than four decades of history.
Its intimate character and location in one of Barcelona’s distinguished areas provided the setting for a presentation deliberately conceived outside the official Barcelona Gallery Weekend circuit, while taking place during one of the city’s key moments for contemporary art.
