About

AULIAK, Matías Martínez Casais, works across movement, performance and staged black & white photography, building scenes where something quiet but unresolved hangs in the air.
The work is less interested in faces than in how a body occupies space: the way someone leans, turns, pauses; the small negotiations between care, tension and withdrawal. Images are composed like fragments of a silent choreography, caught just before or just after something unnamed has happened.
Spaces become temporary stages. The photographs stay calm on the surface, but the arrangements of bodies, objects and empty space suggest stories that are never fully given. What matters is not what the characters are, but the atmosphere between them.
AULIAK’s practice moves between photography, performance and a very quiet surrealism, creating worlds that feel both intimate and slightly out of place. The work currently circulates as limited editions for collectors and galleries in Europe, the UK, the United States, Russia and Japan.
